THESEUS is a research program initiated by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology (BMWi), with the goal to develop a new internet-based infrastructure for a more efficient use of the knowledge available on the internet. For this reason, application-oriented basic technologies and technical standards are to be developed and tested within the THESEUS project. The expected results are innovative products, tools, services and business models for the World Wide Web as well as for the service and knowledge society of tomorrow. more

 

Alexandria is a part of the THESEUS project directed to the end internet users. Named after the antique library of Alexandria, it follows the vision of an online knowledge platform. It will assist users in the publishing, developing and search for content by providing them with tools and making the use of the application as simple and intuitive as possible. more

 

The main objective of the project WeKnowIt is to develop novel techniques for exploiting multiple layers of intelligence from user-contributed content, which together constitute Collective Intelligence, a form of intelligence that emerges from the collaboration and competition among many individuals, and that seemingly has a mind of its own. more

 

In the winter term 2007/08 19 students from the Design, Media and Information Department of Hamburg University of Applied Sciences embarked on researching the role of social search within the course “Integration of Q&A Services Into Web Search” led by Prof. Dr. Dirk Lewandowski. The university project was carried out in close relationship with Lycos Research as the students investigated, among other data sets, questions and answers from the popular Q&A service LycosIQ. more
